Convened by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects,
on the occasion of their centenary,
"The Consequences of Today"
convention looked beyond the usual, visual, ugliness themes to
articulate more fundamental environmental issues.
To reach beyond the convention audience, an exhibition called
"Choices"
designed by a group of former architecture students from
the University of Sydney, was staged in central Sydney's
Hyde Park in a spectacular tubular framed, open ended
structure devised by Sydney architect,
Harry Seidler.
"Choices" examined the ways people are affected by, and in
turn affect, different environments during their lives.
The exhibition
was designed to function in the manner of a walk-in newspaper,
with multiple levels of detail, enabling the audience to "graze",
in passing, or stop and read more detail if their interest was aroused.
