During his early graduate studies at the University of Washington, he was on the staff in the Human Interface Technology Laboratory where he assumed responsibility for development and validation of the Augmented Reality computer-aided-drawing (AR CAD) system. During his later studies at Purdue University from 2002, he has played a lead role as graduate research assistant in establishing the foundational scientific principles related to applications of Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR) concepts and technologies into Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) arenas. He developed and evaluated the Mixed Reality-based collaborative virtual environment (MRCVE) prototype for intuitive design review collaboration.
Upon graduation in 2005, he stayed at Purdue as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for research and teaching for half a year. In May, 2006, he joined the Key Centre for Design Computing and Cognition of Faculty of Architecture at University of Sydney as a Lecturer with the responsibility in conducting research and teaching in the area of Design Computing.
Dr. Wang has developed several Augmented Reality prototypes for architectural design and construction operations, and published refereed articles in various international top research journals and conferences.
