Orientation and Welcome for New Students

The faculty invites all of our coursework Masters, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate students commencing their studies with us in March 2010 to our Orientation Evening.

Thursday, 25 February, from 5.00pm

The Orientation session is an important opportunity to get to meet our academic staff and your fellow students. You will also gain a valuable insight into your roles and responsibilities as a student, who you should see about various issues, where key services and facilities are located and what to expect during your studies.

The formal part of the Orientation will last about an hour and includes:

  • Official Welcome to the Faculty from the Dean, Professor Warren Julian
  • An overview of the Postgraduate Student Experience from Barrie Shelton, Associate Dean, Postgraduate Coursework
  • Student administration, roles and responsibilities
  • Support services for students
  • The Sci-Tech Library - making the most of this resource
  • IT - access to computers, internet, email etc
  • Using the Architectural & Technical Services Centre facilities and resources
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Student associations, including SUPRA (Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association) and SUDA (Sydney University Design Association)

Following the formal welcome we invite you to join staff and fellow students for drinks and light refreshments.

Where will it be held?

The Orientation and Welcome will be held in the Wilkinson Building (where you enrol), 148 City Road, The University of Sydney.
